Will I be able to see planets and nebula with a telescope with the strength of 102x500 (SkyWatcher)? Part 2?
I don't know too much about telescopes, but here is all the specs:
Magnifications (with eyepieces supplied): x20 & x50
Objective Lens Diameter: 102mm
Telescope Focal Length: 500mm (f/4.9)
Eyepieces Supplied (1.25"): 10mm & 25mm
Direct SLR Camera Connection
Red Dot Finder
Dual-Fit 1.25"/2" Focuser
45? Erect Image Diagonal 1.25"
Multi-Coated Objective Lens
AZ3 Deluxe Alt-Azimuth Mount
Aluminium Tripod with Accessory Tray
Thanks for all the help!
The focal ratio (f/5) will be too short to get a decent view of the planets (though I've view many nebulae with a similar telescope). At f/5 (500/102) the simple achromat lens will produce blurring color fringes as you increase magnification.
Either an f/10 scope (1000mm focal length for a 102mm scope) or a dobsonian reflector of 6 or 8 inches would be even better to view planets and other things.
