Differences between the various Prismacolor pencils?
I've seen many different types of 'Prismacolor' pencils(anywhere from premiere to scholar to verithin). I was wondering if anyone knew the differences between the different types, and also which ones are the ORIGINAL ones. I heard from a friend that there was a company that bought Prismacolor and just started slapping the Prismacolor label on lots of different things. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but I would like to know the differences.

I use the brand all the time and get nothing but terrific results with them. I have had the Verithins since I was young and belonged to my mother, who bought them in the 1960's. They haven't changed over the years as near as I can tell. The verithins are primarily for line work as they are more like drawing pencils and hold a sharp point. The Prismacolor art pencils are thicker and waxier and are for coloring in larger areas by overlays and blending. I don't know anything about the company other than the products are high quality. They also make a set of watercolor pencils.
