How do I open this ammo can?
I got this 7.62x54 ammo at Dunhams sporting goods and its in a sealed tin can- i don't know the brand, but its 440 rounds of Russian surplus and is in green can with russian jibberish written on it (if that description helps anyone). its supposed to come with a tool to open it, but didn't. so how do i open it? i'd like to avoid using a chisel and hammer if possible.
If you don't want to use a hammer and chisel, which is the easiest way, you can buy one on gunbroker.com for a penny and $8 shipping. I know I know you're only going to use it once and I agree. What's why when I got a 770 round can of 7.62x39 without an opener I used a hammer and chisel. Just start in the corner as close to the edge as possible and once you have an inch or two cut on a right angle you can pry up the corner and grab it with some channel locks or a vise grip and peel it back.
