Is anyone a sibling of a person with a disability?
My son has a dissability. Smith-Magenis Syndrome.He has explosive behaviours and sleep disorder. Life is a great strain on our family and even after accesing all the services in our area, this still doesn't seem enough. How did you cope growing up and is there any advise you can give me on caring for my other three children? What possitive things did your parents do for you?I AM BURNT OUT!
One of the key things about caregivers is they don't do good self care. Yes, it's tough to find the time, but it is a necessity.
Finding a support group in your area that will give you a few hours off, alone or with another child, would help and I hope you can find one.
